A Batesville resident, Janice M., recently won a $50,000 prize from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. She purchased the winning ticket for the $50,000 Frenzy instant game at Casey’s General Store #3647 in Batesville. Janice claimed her prize on February 21.

Janice bought the ticket while running errands and typically plays lottery games several times a week, opting for $10 and $20 tickets. This time, she chose the $50,000 Frenzy ticket and scratched it off in her car.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Janice told lottery officials. “I thought, ‘Is this real?’” Her daughter added that Janice had the store clerk verify the ticket to confirm her win.

Previously winning $5,000 last year, Janice was surprised by this larger prize. She shared the news with her daughter first. “I thought she was joking—then she showed me the ticket!” said her daughter. They both went to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center to collect the winnings.

Janice plans to use her prize money to pay bills. There are still seventy top prizes of $50,000 available in the $50,000 Frenzy game.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has sold over $7.8 billion since 2009 and returned more than $1.4 billion for scholarships benefiting Arkansas students. Over 770,000 college scholarships have been awarded through these funds.
