One Nevada County resident experienced an unexpected windfall after deviating from her usual lottery habits. P. Welch secured a $75,000 prize in the March 13 Natural State Jackpot (NSJ) drawing, claiming her winnings at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on March 17.

Welch's winning ticket was purchased through the Jackpocket mobile app. The numbers that led to her success were 3, 8, 22, 29, and 37. Typically favoring games like Cash 3, Cash 4, and Powerball while selecting birthdays as numbers, Welch opted for a Quick Pick ticket with computer-generated numbers this time.

“I just did that out of the blue,” Welch shared with lottery officials about her decision to try something different.

The unexpected choice resulted in a significant reward. While at home, Welch received a notification from Jackpocket stating she was a “Big winner.” Initially thinking she had won a small amount, Welch discovered she had matched all five winning numbers necessary for the jackpot.

She celebrated by sharing the news with her boyfriend, mother, and daughter. Her boyfriend accompanied her to claim the prize at the ASL Claim Center. “We’ve been hoping for something good to happen,” he remarked.

Welch plans to use part of her winnings to assist her mother and start a business venture.

She is one of two winners who will split the $150,000 prize from the March 13 drawing evenly. The second winning ticket was sold at University Shell in Little Rock but remains unclaimed. The winner has until September to claim their share.

Tonight’s NSJ drawing offers an $80,000 jackpot.
