The third annual Western Water, Agricultural, and Environmental Law Conference will take place on June 19-20 in Reno, Nevada. The event is co-hosted by the National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Foundation (NASDA Foundation).
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from key figures in Western state leadership on issues related to water, agriculture, and food policy. Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward, who is also the current president of NASDA, will moderate a panel discussing state agriculture departments.
The session titled "Western Water, Ag, & Food: Perspectives from State Departments of Agriculture" will feature J.J. Goicoechea from Nevada Department of Agriculture, Christy Clark from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, and Jeff Witte from New Mexico Department of Agriculture.
Harrison Pittman, NALC Director, said that attendees can expect an "engaging, interactive session" that addresses challenges facing Western agriculture. Wes Ward expressed enthusiasm about moderating a panel with experienced professionals discussing significant agricultural topics affecting the West.
J.J. Goicoechea highlighted the importance of policy and practicality in state agriculture departments. Christy Clark emphasized the session's value for stakeholders and panelists alike. Jeff Witte noted the collaborative role of state agriculture departments in addressing regional challenges.
