Soldiers from the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade recently arrived at Arkansas State Police Troop L in Lowell, Ark., to begin their state active duty mission as inclement weather bears down on the region.

Guardsmen will work around the clock traveling ASP-designated roadways to assist motorists and help stranded motorists to safety. The teams of Soldiers are not allowed to recover privately owned vehicles or commercial vehicles.

The Arkansas National Guard assumes support roles to augment civil authorities, where needed and directed by the Governor, to help in a crisis.
