Construction work to expand Interstate 30 in Saline County, Arkansas, will lead to the temporary closure of a ramp at the Highway 70 interchange. The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) announced that the Highway 70 ramp to I-30 east will be closed from 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, until 5 a.m. on Monday, February 24.
The closure is necessary for pavement work as part of the project to widen I-30 to six lanes. During this time, eastbound traffic on I-30 will be reduced to one lane near Exit 111 (Highway 70 west). Motorists are advised to follow signed detours and can refer to the attached detour map NR 25-033-A for guidance.
The detour route involves taking the on-ramp to I-30 west, exiting at Exit 106, and then returning eastbound using the overpass. Additionally, between Exit 121 (Alcoa Road) and Exit 123 (Reynolds Road), I-30 eastbound will be reduced to one lane for overhead sign structure installation.
Traffic management measures including barrels, barricades, and signage will be in place. ARDOT advises caution in the work zone due to potentially slower traffic speeds and noise impacts during nighttime hours.
This construction is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program under Job CA0601. It includes widening a section of I-30 from U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116), with improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114). The project's cost is $187.3 million.
