Boozman Congratulates Summer Interns on Service to Arkansas

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) recognized the efforts of students who served Arkansans as interns in his Washington, D.C. and state offices this summer. 

“These sharp and motivated students have been a great help to the people of Arkansas during their time in Washington. I appreciate their dedication to helping my staff address issues concerning Arkansans and providing vital services. They truly have taken advantage of the unique opportunities available to them in our nation’s capital,” Boozman said.

Alex Sumrall, Danny Moreno, Reese Maginn, Cross Thompson, Wyatt Bailey, Kylie Roesler, Sydney Kincaid, Ben Sherman and Julija Eddy completed a five-week internship in Senator Boozman’s Washington office. Constituent relations were their primary duty. Additionally, they assisted the legislative and communications teams with various aspects of their work. Each intern was also afforded the chance to shadow the senator, a unique opportunity giving them rare insight into the inner workings of the U.S. Senate. 

Victoria Moody and Buddy Gaston interned in the senator’s Lowell and Little Rock offices respectively.

Alex Sumrall is a Northwest Arkansas native. In 2020, she graduated from Gravette High School. She is a rising senior at Hendrix College where she is studying political science. After graduation she plans to spend a year abroad before attending law school.

Danny Moreno graduated from Clarksville High School in 2019. He is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas where he is studying data science with a minor in statistics. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school.

Reese Maginn is from Little Rock. He graduated from Little Rock's Catholic High School for Boys in 2020. He is studying economics at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, serving in the Army National Guard and flying airplanes in pursuit of his desire to start a career as a FedEx pilot.

Cross Thompson is from Paragould. He graduated from Paragould High School in 2019. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in May 2023 with a degree in political science and plans to work for a year before pursing a graduate degree.

Wyatt Bailey is a native of Lubbock, Texas who now lives in Fayetteville and attends the University of Arkansas. He will graduate in 2024 with an honors degree in political science along with minors in legal studies and philosophy. 

Kylie Roesler graduated with her bachelor’s degree in poultry science from the University of Arkansas in May 2023. After her internship, the Katy, Texas native will be returning to Fayetteville to pursue a master’s degree in agriculture economics and rural development.

Sydney Kincaid graduated from Fayetteville High School in 2020. She is a rising senior year at the University of Arkansas where she is majoring in political science and economics. After graduation, she plans to attend law school. 

Ben Sherman is a 2020 graduate of Jonesboro High School. He is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas where he is pursuing a degree in accounting and finance.

Julija Eddy is from Little Rock. She is a rising senior at Creighton University, studying health administration and policy as a pre-accelerated nursing student. During her time as an intern she learned more about health care policy and foreign affairs. 

Victoria Moody is from El Dorado. She is a rising sophomore at the University of Arkansas where she is double majoring in political science and business economics. She is the vice president of events for the Future Women in Law and Politics Organization and a UA summer programs mentor.

Buddy Gaston is from Little Rock. He is a rising junior at the University of Arkansas where he is studying sports administration with a minor in management.
