We don't have to to remind you what the COVID Era did to organizations that do great good in our society, but depend on social interaction. They were decimated.
But, now is the time of re-building. And there are some really great opportunities to serve available. On such example is The Lions Club.
I'm in my 50s, so when I think of this group, I think of people who did fundraisers to purchase eye glasses for children (or people) without the means to purchase them at the moment for themselves.
From what I understand, from a very brief conversation with Sherri Hendrix (two people named Sherri were at the Bee Thrifty ribbon cutting event spelled their names Sherri), they have expanded their focus, pun intended. Their focus has broadened to, it looks like, to contemplate ways to fix things that cause visions problems in the first place.
Look at the description below, and see if it is something you might want to serve time helping on! Because, people are needed to help!
Seems almost weird. "Go do social stuff?" Yeah! Do it! It is more fun than ever!
Here is what I picked up from the main website as a description of the Lion's Club Web Page:
Melvin Jones Founded - October 1917 / Motto - We Serve / Description from their website:
"Focused on supporting vision, the environment, childhood cancer, hunger, diabetes, & more. More than 1.4 million Lions around the world are responding to challenges."
