Former Head of Arkansas’ Republican Party Doyle Webb has confirmed that he will run for state lieutenant governor.
"We worked hard to develop supermajorities in the House and Senate and I want to work to continue the mission that we set forth, which was to maintain a strong position in life, liberty and the pursuit of lower taxes," Webb said during a Talk Business interview. "I have served in this office before, as you know, with Lt. Gov. [Win] Rockefeller. I enjoyed my service there and enjoyed serving the people of the state."
Webb was most recently appointed to lead the redistricting team of Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. He has also contributed as chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Win Rockefeller, according to UAL Public Radio.
Sen. Jason Rapert and Surgeon General Dr. Greg Bledsoe, have also announced their quests for the same position. Incumbent Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin had announced his candidacy for governor but later left the race to pursue an attorney general position.
"I believe I am the most qualified candidate in the race, but I will not take Arkansans support for granted. I will be running a full-time campaign over the next year and a half, getting to every corner of the state I have come to know so well. As your next lieutenant governor I will fight for life, liberty, and lower taxes," Webb said, in a statement.
