Arkansas State Sen. Jason Rapert (R-Conway) is making a run in 2022 for the lieutenant governor’s seat currently held by Republican Tim Griffin.

Griffin is leaving office because of term limits, freeing a seat Rapert hopes to fill.

Rapert indicated in a post on Facebook that Republicans must stand strong against Democrats bending the rules of elections to promote their liberal agendas.

"You have to know where you stand,” Rapert said in the post. “Voter integrity is a must and we’ve seen how the Democrats have bent and broken the rules all over the nation during elections. In Arkansas, Republicans must stand together to ensure that the Democrats never modify rules just so they can say they aren’t breaking the rules anymore. Three cheers for solid Arkansas Republicans who have held the line in our state. I will keep fighting alongside you for what is right."

Rapert currently represents District 35 in the central part of Arkansas. He was elected to the State Senate in 2011.

Formerly a licensed financial advisor and insurance agent through a company he owns, Providence Financial Group Inc., he is also the founder and president of a Christian ministry, the Holy Ghost Ministries in Conway. In addition, he founded the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, a group formed to address public policy from a religious viewpoint.

Married with two daughters, Rapert lives on a family farm in the Arkansas Valley near Conway.

Rapert supports a pro-life stance on abortion and tax cuts. He said on his website that the country has abandoned too many values embodied in the Christian faith.

“Our nation has strayed too far from our Judeo-Christian foundation," he said.

Rapert pledged to restore the honor of God in America and oppose runway taxation.

“The people who actually work hard and earn the money should get to keep as much of it as possible," he said. "We made that happen in Arkansas.”
