Cypress Cold Storage recently invested $13 million in an expansion of their Maumelle cold storage facility, and expects to add approximately 30 full-time employees to work in the facility, which now covers a 162,000 square-foot facility.
Maumelle Mayor Caleb Norris told KATV that it's a bit of good news in the midst of the economic crisis that has left so many businesses struggling.
“It’s exciting to see that, despite all the tribulations and trials we’ve had over the last year, that there’s businesses that are not only maintaining, but thriving and expanding,” he told KATV in an interview. “We’re happy they’ve chosen to be here in Maumelle."
Michael McAfee, president of Cypress Cold Storage Companies, said that the expansion comes as the company is seeing increased demand for their cold storage service, according to coverage by Area Development. He anticipates they will now not only be able to better serve the demands of their existing customers, but expand their market share, reaching out to new customers as well.
Cypress Cold Storage is a relatively new company, having been formed in 2019, Area Development reported. It has two facilities, including the cold storage facility in Maumelle and a temperature-controlled warehouse in North Little Rock.
