The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department has released its 2021 plans for Outdoor Fayetteville, a year-long program designed to provide the residents of Fayetteville with plenty of safe, outdoor activities to do in 2021.

The various programs that will be made available to residents will range from novice to intermediate-levels of experience. These activities represent a great opportunity for individuals and families to learn more about outdoor skills and activities using equipment that will be provided by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Some of the activities that are planned include day hikes, sunset paddles, outdoor cooking clinics, outdoor overnight backpacking, canoeing, kayaking and more. With so many activities to choose from, community members should have no trouble at all being able to find something that suits their interests and capabilities.

The goal of the Outdoor Recreation program is to provide residents with the means and knowledge to get exercise in an outdoor environment. The mental and physical health benefits of this ability are vast, especially in a time when many residents are confined within their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic. The program has a focus on family and will provide activities that are tailored toward building skills, confidence, socializing and strengthening relationships.

Those that wish to register for the Outdoor Fayetteville activities that are being made available should do so as soon as possible. Registration is open now, but approval is based on a first-come, first-served basis. There is sure to be massive interest in the programs, with many businesses and activities being shut down or restricted due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Parks and Recreation Department wants residents to know that in all activities, COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. This means that the lessons will be instructed in small groups, masks will be worn and social distancing guidelines will be observed. In combination with the fact that these activities take place outdoors, families and participants should be more than capable of remaining safe while also having fun.
