The staff and community of Arkansas State University extended its sympathy to the family, friends and former associates of Dr. Shirl D. Strauser of Jonesboro, emeritus professor of accounting.
Strauser passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4. He was survived by his wife, Jean, and a daughter, Deana Strauser Johnston, and her family.
Joining the Arkansas State University faculty in 1966, Strauser during the university's centennial celebration in 2009-10, was recognized by the Faculty Association as one of the First 100 Distinguished Faculty of the institution.
Strauser also served as department chair and director of the Master of Business Administration program.
Visitation was held on Sunday, and the funeral service was held Feb. 8 at Emerson Funeral Home. The obituary and arrangements were online to encourage social distancing.
Arkansas State University lit its clock tower at the Dean B. Ellis Library scarlet on Feb. 8 as a memorial.
