The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) has created a new section on its website as part of Black History Month in order to feature local black history and heritage.

The website section will also offer directions to a self-guided tour, local amenities and attractions, according to an LRCVB press release.

Gretchen Hall, LRCVB president and CEO, said that the new website features were meant, in part, to appeal to tourists as the nation emerges from the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the release.

“Little Rock is known for its role in the civil rights movement with six sites along the U.S. Civil Rights Trail,” Hall said in the release. “While we reflect on our past, we also celebrate our exciting present with our thriving Black-owned restaurants, engaging attractions and more. As people begin to think about traveling again, this website is designed to highlight Little Rock’s Black culture and inspire future experiences.”

In tandem with the launch, the LRCVB also created a video ad to showcase the theme “If you’re big on the Black Experience, you’re big on Little Rock,” according to the release.

Some of the featured content in the new website section includes information about the six stops on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail that can be found in Little Rock, which is ranked as a Top Ten Trail Destination, according to the release.

Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site, where the Little Rock Nine challenged racial barriers during the 1957 desegregation crisis is one of the featured sites on the trail, according to the release.

The self-guided Little Rock Civil Rights tour gives visitors the information they need to explore Little Rock’s history at their own pace, according to the release.

The site also has sections on the history and progress made in Little Rock, as well as information on black-owned restaurants and other attractions for visitors, according to the release.
