The ASUN Conference announced on April 27 that Zeb Allen has been named Baseball Player of the Week.
Allen, a junior from Fort Smith, Arkansas, had a strong performance as the Bears won four games, including an ASUN series sweep against Bellarmine in Louisville. Over five games last week, Allen posted a .556 batting average by going 10-for-18 at the plate. He recorded two doubles, four home runs, eleven runs batted in, three stolen bases, walked four times and scored eleven runs. During this stretch, Allen broke Central Arkansas’s single-season home run record with his fifteenth homer of the season at Bellarmine on Friday and now has seventeen for the year. Earlier this month at Lipscomb he also surpassed UCA’s career home run record by hitting his twenty-fifth; he currently holds thirty career home runs.
Head Coach Nick Harlan said about Allen: “Very proud of Zeb. He continues to impress me with the discipline and consistency of his approach in preparation and competition. He is a great pattern for what it means to be a selfless teammate. I am extremely grateful that he is a Bear!”
The Bears are currently second place in the ASUN Gold Division standings and will travel to face fourth-place Austin Peay for a three-game series in Clarksville, Tennessee. The series begins Friday at 6 p.m., followed by games on Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Allen’s recent achievements contribute significantly to both his personal records and team success as Central Arkansas aims to maintain its position near the top of its division.
