The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced that Vandenberg Boulevard will be temporarily closed between John Harden Drive and N. 1st Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, starting Sunday night, March 15 through Saturday morning, March 21.

The closure is required for beam placement on the new bridge as part of the project to widen Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville. Weather permitting, crews will close Vandenberg Boulevard underneath Highway 67/167 during these hours.

Signed detours will be in place to help drivers navigate around the closure. To reach the east side of the closure, traffic will take John Harden Drive south to the N. James Street Bridge and cross over to access TP White Drive east of Highway 67/167. To reach the west side, traffic will take N. 1st Street south to the new Gregory Street Overpass and cross over to access John Harden Drive or Marshall Road west of Highway 67/167.

Traffic control measures such as barricades and signage will be used throughout the work zone. The public is advised to exercise caution when traveling in this area and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas near the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours.

This project (Job CA0604) is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening a 2.5-mile section of Highway 67 between Main Street (Exit 9) and Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11), along with improvements at several interchanges and conversion of frontage roads from two-way to one-way operation. More information about this $145.2 million project can be found at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com or by visiting the Arkansas Department of Transportation website.
