The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced that Vandenberg Boulevard will be temporarily closed between John Harden Drive and N. 1st Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly starting Sunday night, March 15 through Monday morning, March 23.

The closure is required for construction crews to place beams for a new bridge as part of the project to widen Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard in Jacksonville. Weather permitting, the closure will take place underneath Highway 67/167 (I-57), with signed detours provided for drivers.

To reach the east side of the closure, traffic will be directed south on John Harden Drive to the N. James Street Bridge and then cross over to access TP White Drive east of Highway 67/167 (I-57). To reach the west side, drivers will take N. 1st Street south to the new Gregory Street Overpass and cross over to access John Harden Drive or Marshall Road west of Highway 67/167 (I-57). Barricades and signage will control traffic during this period.

The public is advised by ARDOT to exercise caution when traveling in the work zone and watch for slower traffic speeds. Areas adjacent to the interstate may experience noise impacts during nighttime hours due to construction activities.

This project, identified as Job CA0604 under ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program, involves widening approximately 2.5 miles of Highway 67 from Main Street (Exit 9) to Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11) in Jacksonville. It also includes improvements at several interchanges—James Street (Exit 10A), Gregory Street (Exit 10B), Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11)—and converting frontage roads from two-way to one-way operation. More information about this $145.2 million project can be found at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com according to the official roster page.
