The United States Trustee announced on Apr. 24 that it is seeking resumes from individuals interested in appointment to the panel of trustees who oversee cases filed under chapter 7 of title 11 of the United States Code, also known as the Bankruptcy Code. The appointments are for cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, with applications due by May 22, 2026.

This notice is important because chapter 7 trustees play a key role in administering bankruptcy cases and ensuring proper management and distribution of assets. Appointed trustees receive compensation and reimbursement for expenses according to court orders under federal law.

Minimum qualifications for appointment include strong administrative, financial, and interpersonal skills as set forth in federal regulations. While experience with fiduciary duties or bankruptcy matters is desirable, it is not required. Successful applicants must pass a background check and qualify to be bonded. Although these positions are not considered federal employment, appointments follow Equal Opportunity policies prohibiting discrimination.

The Arkansas Bar Association supports public service and community leadership through programs such as the Public Service Academy, according to the official website. The association provides services from its headquarters facility in Little Rock and presents awards recognizing outstanding leadership among its members according to its official website.

With more than 5,000 member attorneys across Arkansas, the voluntary association promotes legal standards and advocates for both attorneys and access to justice statewide according to its official website. It offers educational resources aimed at advancing professional development while upholding the rule of law as noted on its official site.

Leadership within the Arkansas Bar Association includes a president working alongside a Board of Trustees who provide strategic guidance according to information available online. Those interested in applying for appointment as a chapter 7 trustee should submit their resumes via email by May 22.
