Grassroots Manager Logan Nevonen and NFIB State Director Katie Burns recently hosted a virtual event to discuss the legislative achievements of 2023, set priorities for 2024, and encourage member participation. The event focused on the outcomes of the 94th General Assembly, which brought significant changes for small business owners in Arkansas.
The legislative session resulted in several victories for local businesses. Among these were tax reductions, with lawmakers lowering the top individual rate to 4.4% and the top corporate rate to 4.8%. These cuts are expected to provide relief to over 1.1 million Arkansans and move towards eliminating state income tax.
Another key piece of legislation was the Youth Hiring Act, designed to assist small businesses in filling job vacancies while providing young people with valuable skills for their future careers.
NFIB offers resources to help businesses stay informed about relevant legislation at both state and federal levels. The NFIB Engage App provides action alerts, opportunities to contact lawmakers, invitations to events and webinars, and updates on NFIB’s activities nationwide.
Members are encouraged to update their profiles on the app for a personalized experience. For more details on the legislative session or further inquiries, Logan Nevonen can be contacted at logan.nevonen@nfib.org.
