ARKANSAS: PRIDE Month: Alejandro Avilés

Arkansas issued the following announcement on June 12.

Alejandro Avilés is a graduate of the University of Arkansas. He was named director of the Arkansas chapter of League of United Latin American Citizens, becoming the youngest person in Arkansas history to hold that position.

In his over 20 years in public service, to date, he has worked in countless organizations across the nation advocating for and actively supporting those in the greatest need. He has worked as a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, at Legal Aid of Arkansas serving domestic violence victims and people with limited-English proficiency. He was director of outreach and engagement at Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization.

He is currently a trustee on the Board of Directors of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, which pursues economic, educational, social, ethnic, and racial equity for all Arkansans.
