Arkansas Adjutant General issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
Arkansas Air National Guardsmen in the 189th Communications Flight met virtually Feb. 10-11 with their Guatemalan military counterparts to discuss cyber security. Recently the Guatemalan Ministry of National Defense approved the development of a Cyber Command. This new command fulfills the Guatemalan military mandated missions set forth by the country’s constitution. Air Guardsmen shared tactics, techniques and procedures of how the Air Force addressed emerging cyber threats. With cyber and network security being crucial to a modern military, both sides spoke about how critical end-user training is to keeping a network secure. Additionally, they discussed malware detection.
The Arkansas National Guard and Guatemala are celebrating their 20th year as cooperating partners in the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program.
