ARKANSAS ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE: Scam Alert

Arkansas Attorney General's Office issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.

Last week, my office worked with an Arkansas consumer who believed he won the lottery when he received almost $100,000 in checks from an out-of-state stranger.

A con artist told the consumer by phone that he could keep $20,000 – and he would get more – if he sent $80,000 on to another out-of-state person. The consumer called the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office because it sounded too good to be true...and it was!

He was being used illegally as a Money Mule and contacted the AG’s Office before the scam went any further. He could have gotten in trouble for being a Money Mule! Con artists work hard to steal from you and potentially use you to commit crimes. To learn more about Money Mules and how to not become one, contact my office at (501) 682-2007.
