Cherokee Village recently issued the following announcement.

In order to assist volunteers, who man the recycling operation on the City Hall parking lot, the following are important guidelines to follow when dropping off recyclable items:

1. Hours of operation are Wednesdays from 8-11 unless canceled due to inclement weather or that date is a holiday

2. Acceptable recyclable items include:

. Plastic liquid/beverage containers or prescription containers with either a number “1” or “2” on the bottom—only those numbers are recyclable . Aluminum cans or metal cans. Cardboard which is commonly used for shipping. Newspaper, magazines, copy paper, card stock

Flush or rinse out the inside of the plastic, aluminum, or metal containers as residue contaminates these items and they cannot be recycled. Also, it is helpful for the volunteers if you separate the items listed above from each other.

DO NOT BRING ITEMS WHICH SHOULD BE PLACED IN YOUR NORMAL GARBAGE PICKUP.

PLASTIC FOOD CONTAINERS, PLASTIC TRAYS, PLASTIC FUEL/OIL CONTAINERS, PLASTIC makeup CONTAINERS, OTHER TYPES OF PLASTIC, OTHER METAL CONTAINERS, BATTERIES, AND GLASS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE ITEMS FOR RECYCLE AT OUR LOCATION

Recyclables should not contain food residue. Please rinse.
