The City of Fayetteville will host a new cross-country mountain-bike event as a qualifier for Tokyo Olympic Games, according to the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.
This spring, the City of Fayetteville, will host the new OZ Trails US Pro Cup, as part of the 2021 U.S. Cup Mountain Bike Series.
“Northwest Arkansas has become a global destination for mountain biking, and this event will help to build upon that,” Krista Cupp OZ Trails spokeswoman said. “The OZ Trails US Pro Cup will expand our region’s influence in the mountain biking world by introducing more professional riders to our area.”
The event is scheduled for the weekends of April 9-11 and April 16-18, at Centennial Park at Millsap Mountain in Fayetteville. The races, which are a part of the U.S. Cup Series, will give riders an opportunity to earn critical UCI points which can be used to qualify for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
The top U.S. men and women cross-country mountain-bike racers will join in competition with top mountain-bike racers from around the globe. The event will also offer a chance for junior boys and girls to earn UCI points and qualify to represent Team USA at the 2021 World Championships in Europe.
OZ Trails has partnered with Experience Fayetteville, the city’s convention and visitors bureau to host the event.
