U.S. Senator John Boozman advised Arkansans on March 13 to prepare carefully for upcoming spring and summer travel, highlighting the importance of planning ahead and utilizing federal resources to ensure safe and smooth trips.
Boozman said that as many residents look forward to vacations or business trips, it is important to stay informed about changing global conditions. He pointed out that recent events have increased the need for travelers to be aware of potential risks abroad. “Recent events around the world have heightened the need for travelers to stay informed about potentially dangerous or complex situations. Doing so can help ensure safe passage to a new destination or even back home, if necessary,” Boozman said.
He recommended enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), a free service from the U.S. Department of State that provides updates from U.S. embassies directly to travelers’ email accounts. “If Arkansans find themselves in the midst of natural disasters, civil unrest or terrorist attacks while on foreign soil, STEP has proved an invaluable tool for raising awareness of official guidance and alerts,” he said. Boozman also suggested considering TSA Pre-Check for expedited security screening and using Mobile Passport Control for faster re-entry into the United States.
For those traveling internationally, Boozman reminded constituents that some countries require passports with three to six months’ validity before entry and encouraged checking requirements through State Department resources. He also invited Arkansans visiting Washington, D.C., during America 250 celebrations to contact his office for assistance with arranging tours and activities.
Boozman’s office maintains district offices across Arkansas communities to assist constituents, according to the official website. He holds positions on several Senate committees including Appropriations, Veterans’ Affairs, Environment and Public Works, and Rules and Administration according to the official website. Boozman has supported legislation expanding care for women veterans and updating the GI Bill as reported by his official website.
Boozman lives in Rogers, Arkansas with his wife Cathy and their family according to his official website. He earned a doctor of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in 1977 according to his official website.
“It is an honor to assist Arkansans navigating their travel and provide any support possible with federal departments, agencies, services or programs. Please do not hesitate to contact us whenever the need arises,” Boozman said.
