A Russellville couple, David and Gail A., experienced an unexpected windfall when they won $50,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket. The couple claimed their prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on February 24.

The winning ticket was part of the $50,000 Frenzy game and was purchased at Tobacco Row in Russellville. David bought the ticket as a Valentine’s Day gift for his wife, Gail, who had to work on the holiday. He plays lottery games regularly and occasionally buys extra tickets for her.

Gail scratched the ticket at home and discovered several winning symbols before handing it to David for confirmation. “You’d better look at this,” she said. Upon realizing their win, David initially thought it might be a prank. However, after confirming with another retailer that they had indeed won the top prize of $50,000, they were advised to visit the ASL Claim Center in Little Rock.

“It definitely was a memorable Valentine’s Day,” they shared after announcing their win to others in the store and receiving celebratory cheers.

The couple plans to save their winnings and has already shared the news with some family members. There are still sixty-nine top prizes worth $50,000 each remaining in the $50,000 Frenzy game.
