The Piggott School District released its daily announcements on April 21, detailing a range of academic, extracurricular, and scholarship opportunities for students this week.

The information is important for students and parents to stay updated on school activities, deadlines, and resources available throughout the district.

Seventh and eighth graders are scheduled to attend the Atlas Incentive Assembly in the Middle Gym during advisory. The chess team will hold a meeting in room 207 with Mr. H during advisory for those interested in joining next year. Ninth through eleventh graders considering concurrent college classes are encouraged to see Mrs. Amber for referral forms if they have not previously taken such courses. Students who took the PreACT can pick up their score reports from Mrs. Amber’s office between classes or during advisory.

Thursday marks the last day to order yearbooks either online or by submitting a form to Mrs. Huckabay in the office. Additionally, students seeking community service hours can volunteer at Little League concession stands by contacting Ms. Elisha Brown via email. There are also opportunities to help with the Summer Feeding Program; interested students should sign up with Mrs. Amber.

Several scholarships have application deadlines approaching soon: The Clay County Farm Bureau Scholarship (May 1), Kevin Jones Memorial Scholarship (see Mrs. Amber), Clay Conservation Scholarship (May 1), Gaylon Lawrence Memorial Scholarship (April 23), Frankie Faulk Memorial Scholarship (April 23), Local Scholarships (April 23), Piggott Elementary Scholarship (April 22), Holly Mauldin Alonzo New Beginnings Scholarship (May 1), and AASSP Scholarship for children of AAEA members pursuing education degrees (see Mrs. Amber). Seniors must complete an email form regarding final transcript destinations and may access additional applications online or from Mrs. Amber’s office.

Meal options this week include chicken sandwiches, pepperoni pizza, Salisbury steak, BBQ sandwiches, lasagna, cheese pizza, mini corn dogs, turkey & cheese sandwiches; there is no school on Friday.

Upcoming sports events include junior track districts and several softball and baseball games against Bay, Trumann, Cooter, Marked Tree, and Maynard throughout the week.
