An Arkansas resident experienced an unexpected stroke of luck while celebrating his wife’s birthday. Timothy Augustyniak, from Paragould, won $50,000 playing the $50,000 Frenzy instant lottery game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on May 21.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kum & Go #349 located on Linwood Drive in Paragould. Timothy decided to try his luck with the $20 instant game while stopping for gas on the way to a birthday dinner for his wife. Despite being a regular lottery player, he was not focused on winning that evening.
“I was thinking about dinner!” Timothy told lottery officials. “I’m always expecting to win the big one, but this time, I wasn’t even thinking about it.”
Initially hoping for a smaller win of $100, Timothy was surprised when he scratched off a $50,000 top prize. “I get down to the middle, and I go, ‘No way!’” he recounted.
After confirming the win inside the store at his wife’s request, Timothy celebrated what he described as “the biggest prize of my life.” His previous largest win had been $1,000.
Timothy plans to use part of his winnings for a family trip and intends to continue supporting Arkansas scholarships through lottery participation.
Forty-nine top prizes remain available in the $50,000 Frenzy game. More information about the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery can be found at MyArkansasLottery.com.
