The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced on May 7 that the southbound exit ramp to Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11) on Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) in Jacksonville will be temporarily closed overnight for construction work.
The closure is part of a project to widen the highway to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Boulevard. The southbound exit ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, to allow crews to complete striping and traffic signal work.
During the closure, drivers will be directed by signs to use the southbound exit ramp at North James Street (Exit 10). From there, motorists can take North James Street back onto Highway 67/167 northbound and then use the northbound exit ramp for Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11). Traffic control measures including message boards, construction barrels, and barricades will be used throughout the work zone. The department advises drivers to exercise caution and watch for slower traffic speeds while traveling in this area.
This construction is part of ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program under Job CA0604. The $145.2 million project includes widening approximately 2.5 miles of Highway 67 between Main Street (Exit 9) and Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11), as well as improvements at several interchanges: James Street (Exit 10A), Gregory Street (Exit 10B), and Vandenberg Boulevard itself. It also involves converting frontage roads from two-way to one-way operation.
