The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced on May 11 that construction to widen Highway 67/167 (Interstate 57) in Jacksonville will require a temporary overnight closure of the southbound exit ramp to Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11). The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. Monday night, May 11, through 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 12.

According to the announcement, weather permitting, crews will close the southbound exit ramp to allow for striping and traffic signal work. A signed detour will direct traffic to use the southbound exit ramp at North James Street (Exit 10), then take North James Street to northbound Highway 67/167 and use the northbound exit ramp for Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11).

Traffic control measures will include message boards, construction barrels, and barricades. The department advises drivers to be cautious when traveling through the work zone and to watch for slower traffic speeds.

This project, identified as Job CA0604 under ARDOT’s Connecting Arkansas Program, involves widening approximately 2.5 miles of Highway 67 from Main Street (Exit 9) to Vandenberg Boulevard (Exit 11). It also includes improvements at several interchanges—James Street (Exit 10A), Gregory Street (Exit 10B), and Vandenberg Boulevard—as well as converting frontage roads from two-way to one-way operation.

More information about this $145.2 million project can be found at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com or in the organization’s press release.
