The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced overnight closures on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (Highway 62) in Fayetteville over Interstate 49 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on several dates.
The closures are set for Thursday night, March 19 through Friday morning, March 20; Monday night, March 23 through Tuesday morning, March 24; Tuesday night, March 24 through Wednesday morning, March 25; and Wednesday night, March 25 through Thursday morning, March 26. According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s statement, the closures will allow crews to erect structural steel for the new southbound Interstate bridge over MLK Boulevard, weather permitting.
A signed detour will be in place during these times. Westbound traffic on MLK Boulevard will be detoured onto I-49 north to Wedington Drive (Exit 64), then use Wedington Drive to return to I-49 south and take MLK Boulevard (Exit 62) westbound. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto I-49 south to Cato Springs Road (Exit 60), then use Cato Springs Road to return to I-49 north and take MLK Boulevard (Exit 62) eastbound.
