A Mississippi County resident has claimed a $200,000 prize from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery after purchasing a $10 Psychedelic Payout scratch-off ticket. Robert C., who regularly buys lottery tickets, collected his winnings at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on September 9.

Robert described his reaction when he discovered the win at home. “I thought I only won $20 at first and was excited to see more zeros following the initial 20,” he said.

The winning ticket was bought at K & M Food Mart in Bassett, a town with about 200 residents. “It was cool, a town so small, you wouldn’t think a big ticket would be there,” Robert said.

He typically purchases tickets ranging from $5 to $20 and favors scratch-off games over draw games. While he has previously won prizes between $500 and $5,000, this is his largest win. On the same day as his major win, he also won an additional $80 from other tickets.

Robert shared news of his win with his son by sending a photo of the ticket late in the evening. His son recalled, “I thought it was fake at first, but I looked at what time it was and realized he’d only be sending me something that late if he really did win.”

Robert plans to use part of his winnings for a new truck and intends to save the rest. He says he will continue playing lottery games: “Oh yeah, for sure!” His son added, “He’s very lucky when it comes to the scratch-off tickets.”

There is still one top-tier prize worth $200,000 remaining for Psychedelic Payout scratch-offs.

Since its inception in 2009, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has sold over $8 billion in tickets and provided more than $1.5 billion for scholarships benefiting Arkansas students. Over 822,000 college scholarships have been distributed by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The lottery has awarded more than $5.5 billion in prizes and contributed over $188 million in state and federal tax revenue through its operations (https://myarkansaslottery.com/about).
