The Little Rock Trojans men’s baseball team will conclude their nine-game road stretch with a matchup against Louisiana Tech on April 14. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston, Louisiana.
This contest marks the final away game before the Trojans return home to Gary Hogan Field. The Bulldogs, currently fifth in Conference USA with a record of 21-16 and a conference mark of 9-6, enter the game riding a six-game winning streak.
Head coach Chris Curry said, “We’re looking forward to another challenging midweek contest. Louisiana Tech is always well coached and is a tradition-rich program. We expect a hard-fought game and are grateful for the opportunity.” The all-time series between the two teams dates back to 1976, with Louisiana Tech leading 61-26.
After this matchup, Little Rock will host Eastern Illinois for an important Ohio Valley Conference series over the weekend. The Panthers are tied for first place in their conference at 10-2, while Little Rock sits tied for third at 8-4.
Recent performances from key players have been notable: junior transfer Brannon Westmoreland delivered one of his best outings during Friday’s win over SIUE by allowing just three hits over nearly eight innings and retiring nine consecutive batters; Nic Bronzini made his first conference start Sunday against SIUE, striking out five batters in three innings as part of a planned short outing.
Louisiana Tech’s offense is led by graduate infielder Colby Lunsford (.314 average, nine home runs, and 32 RBI) and sophomore Trey Hawsey (team-high ten home runs). Hawsey’s ten homers rank tied for third in Conference USA.
