Little Rock will visit Lindenwood for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference baseball series beginning April 24, as both teams enter the weekend on significant winning streaks.
The matchup is important for conference standings, with Little Rock tied at the top and Lindenwood moving up after recent victories. The Trojans (25-17, 11-4 OVC) have won five straight games, including a sweep of Eastern Illinois and two midweek wins over UT Rio Grande Valley. This run has put them in a tie with SIUE for first place in the league. Lindenwood (22-18, 8-7 OVC) is currently fifth after an eight-game winning streak that includes seven conference victories.
The all-time series favors Little Rock at 7-2, with the Trojans taking the last two meetings. Head coach Chris Curry said, “We are going to need to swing [the bat]. [Lindenwood’s park] can be tough to find runs in, so we are going to have to score in different ways.” Curry also said, “We need to work on our bunting and tighten it back up. It’s going to be a battle on the road. We are at the top of the league and control our own destiny, so we don’t have to scoreboard watch as much. We are going to be in a dogfight this weekend, so let’s keep playing solid baseball.”
Recent performances by Little Rock players include Cooper Chaplain delivering two walk-off hits within four days and Ty Rhoades raising his batting average significantly over six games. Jerdy Lopez set career highs during Wednesday’s win against UTRGV.
Lindenwood’s recent success features strong contributions from Jake Radosevich and Sam Driscoll at bat while pitchers Seth Benes and Josh Newell lead one of the best staffs in their conference.
Both teams will look to extend their streaks as they meet at Lou Brock Sports Complex from April 24 through April 26.
