Highway 164 in Johnson County is set to close for a drainage structure replacement, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation. The closure will occur from 7 a.m. on Monday, March 3, until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14. This is to allow crews to replace an existing narrow bridge with a box culvert.
The closure will take place 2.5 miles west of the intersection at Highway 103. “Weather permitting, Highway 164 will be closed,” the department said. Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be used to inform motorists about the closures.
Motorists are advised to plan their detour routes accordingly. For those traveling east on Highway 164 from Highway 103, traffic will be redirected south on Highway 103 to Clarksville, then west on Highway 64 to Interstate 40 westbound before exiting at mile marker 47 and heading north on Highway 164.
For those traveling west on Highway 164 from Highway 103, traffic will head south on Highway 164 to Interstate 40 eastbound, exit at mile marker 55, take Highway 64 east to Clarksville, and then head north on Highway 103.
