On February 4, 2026, the Arkansas Department of Transportation announced a full closure of a portion of Highway 77 south of Manila from 8 a.m. Monday, February 9, through 5 p.m. Thursday, March 12. The closure is scheduled to allow crews to replace the bridge over Ditch Number 20, approximately two miles south of Highway 18.

The department said that Highway 77 will remain open to local traffic only on either side of the closure. A signed detour will be in place during the project period. Northbound traffic will use Highway 158 east to Highway 181 north to Highway 18 west back to Highway 77. Southbound traffic will use Highway 18 east to Highway 181 south to Highway 158 west back to Highway 77.

Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and signage will be used to notify motorists about the closures and detour routes. Additional travel information is available at IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.
