The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily on March 10, March 11, March 12, March 18, and March 19, according to a March 10 announcement by the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

The closure is scheduled for routine dam maintenance and has been coordinated with local emergency management officials and law enforcement agencies. The department said weather conditions may affect the schedule.

Travelers heading to locations north of the Bull Shoals Dam closure on Highway 178 will need to use a detour via Highway 178 through Lakeview, then Highway 5 south through Midway, Highway 126 south through Gassville, Highway 412 west through Flippin, and back to Highway 178 through the town of Bull Shoals. Those traveling south of the closure will use the opposite route: Highway 178 through Bull Shoals to Highway 412 east through Flippin, then Highway 126 north through Gassville, and Highway 5 north through Midway before returning to Highway 178.

For more information about the closure or detours, contact the Mountain Home USACE Project Office at (870) 425-2700 or visit http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/. The Arkansas Department of Transportation also recommends checking IDriveArkansas.com for updated traffic conditions.

Further details can be found in the official announcement from the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
