A resident of Hackett, Arkansas has claimed a $550,000 prize after winning the Nov. 4 Natural State Jackpot (NSJ) drawing. The winner, who regularly plays the lottery, purchased his ticket at Hugs and Biscuits in Hackett. He previously won on other games such as Cash 3 and Cash 4.

The winning numbers for the draw were 10, 17, 18, 26 and 27. After checking his ticket and realizing he could not claim the prize at a regular retailer due to its size, he visited the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Nov. 7.

“If diligence will win you the jackpot, he’s got it,” said the winner’s wife to lottery officials.

The winner described his reaction when discovering he had won: “I thought, ‘No, no… really? Oh my!’” He shared news of his win with his wife by sending her a photo of the ticket. Initially skeptical, she asked him: “Now is not the time to be playing games. Are you being serious right now?” Her skepticism turned into excitement once she realized it was true.

The Hackett man plans to save some of his winnings. The current NSJ jackpot stands at $90,000 for tonight’s drawing.

Since its inception in 2009, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has sold more than $8 billion in tickets and contributed over $1.5 billion for scholarships benefiting students in Arkansas. Over 822,000 college scholarships have been distributed through the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. In addition to player prizes totaling more than $5.5 billion, retailer commissions have surpassed $462 million and state and federal tax revenue contributions are above $188 million.
