A Gassville resident has claimed a $75,000 prize after purchasing a $3 10X Cashword scratch-off ticket. J. Miller bought the winning ticket at GJ Gas N Go LLC on East Main Street and visited the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on August 19 to collect her winnings.

Miller’s recent win follows a family tradition of playing lottery games. Her mother had previously won $20 on another scratch-off game and gave those winnings to Miller, who then used the money to buy six 10X Cashword tickets. While Miller typically chooses lower-priced tickets, her mother prefers higher-priced ones in hopes of larger prizes.

Despite her mother’s doubts about smaller denomination tickets yielding large payouts, Miller remained optimistic. “I’m going to show you, Mom!” she thought. “I’m going to win big!”

After scratching off her tickets at home, Miller discovered that the last one revealed eleven words—enough for the top prize of $75,000. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” Miller thought. “I mean… me?” She double-checked her results by writing each word separately and then confirmed with a store clerk who told her, “Oh, you won big!”

Unable to reach her mother immediately, Miller sent a photo of the ticket and word list to her brother, who later joined in celebrating at the ASL Claim Center.

Miller plans to use part of her winnings for home improvements for herself and her mother.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has been operating since 2009 and reports selling over $8 billion in tickets while returning more than $1.5 billion for scholarships benefiting students across Arkansas. Over 822,000 college scholarships have been awarded through these funds by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. The lottery has also distributed more than $5.5 billion in prizes and generated significant retailer commissions and tax revenue for the state.

Players must be at least 18 years old to participate in lottery games in Arkansas. Official information regarding winning numbers or jackpot amounts is available only through verification by the Office of the Arkansas Lottery’s central gaming system and approval from its Executive Director.
