A Garland County resident has won a $50,000 prize after purchasing a $20 instant lottery ticket. Katherine S., who plays the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery games twice a week, claimed her winnings at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on October 3.
The winning ticket was bought at Good Spirits, located at 109 Calella Road in Hot Springs. Katherine said she decided to purchase the $50,000 Frenzy instant game during a break from work. “Sometimes the tickets talk to you,” she told lottery officials. “And it was talking to me that day.”
She scratched off the ticket while still at work and discovered she had won one of the top prizes available in the game. “This isn’t possible!” Katherine thought when she saw her win. She shared news of her prize with her parents and brother but said that winning such an amount still felt unreal.
Katherine plans to save some of her winnings and use part of them for home renovation projects.
According to lottery officials, there are still twenty-five top prizes remaining for the $50,000 Frenzy game.
