FOIA Request to Arkansas Division of Elections Regarding Comprehensive Information on Spring Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In our continued commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Natural State News have requested specific records under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act ยง 25-19-101 et seq. The request was sent to the Arkansas Division of Elections and seeks detailed information about all candidates running in the upcoming spring elections.

The records we have asked for include a list of all candidates along with their first, middle, and last names. Additionally, we have requested details about the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We also seek to know each candidate’s party affiliation.

Furthermore, our request includes contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
