The City of Rogers announced on April 10 that it will take steps to strengthen and streamline youth programming by bringing the Rogers Activity Center (RAC) under the full operation of its Parks and Recreation Department. The decision follows action by the Rogers City Council, which approved funding for staffing and expenses needed for this transition.

The move is significant as it aims to ensure consistent, sustainable delivery of programs for families in a growing community. For decades, the RAC has been operated through a partnership between the city and the nonprofit Rogers Community School Recreation Association, serving as a central hub for youth sports, camps, and after-school care.

“As our city continues to grow, it’s important that we deliver programs in a way that is consistent, sustainable, and built for the future. This step allows us to do that while continuing to serve families at a high level,” said Greg Hines, Mayor of Rogers.

Coleta Paris, Executive Director of the RAC, said: “The RAC has been an important part of this community for a long time, and that’s not changing. This transition allows the City to carry that work forward and build on it. We support this move and are confident these programs will continue to serve families well.”

During the transition period from nonprofit management to city operation, current programs, schedules, and day-to-day activities at RAC will remain unchanged. Any future updates regarding registration or program structures will be communicated once plans are finalized.

“We understand that the RAC means a lot to this community. Our priority is a smooth transition that keeps programs running without disruption while we thoughtfully plan for the future,” said Quinton Harris, Director of Rogers Parks & Recreation.

Residents are encouraged by city officials to stay informed through official communication channels as more details become available.
