One Arkansas lottery player experienced an unexpected windfall when a change in her work schedule led to a $500,000 win. B. Todd from Little Rock secured the prize while playing 200X the Cash, a $20 instant game. She claimed her winnings at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on May 13.
The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip #7211 on Otter Creek Road in Little Rock. Todd, who usually plays the lottery daily as part of her routine, bought the ticket during her commute after deciding to go to work despite having initially planned to take the day off.
Todd scratched off the ticket inside the store and discovered she had won half a million dollars. “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” she thought upon realizing her luck.
Having promised her daughter that she would share any significant lottery winnings, Todd quickly informed her of the news by sending a photo of the winning ticket with a message saying, “Call me now.” The mother and daughter shared their excitement over the phone. “We just started screaming continuously,” Todd recounted to lottery officials.
The winner’s husband was also brought into the celebration after initially fearing bad news when he was told there was something important to discuss.
Todd intends to invest her prize money. Meanwhile, three top prizes worth $500,000 each remain available in the 200X the Cash game.
