The Central Arkansas softball team announced on Apr. 17 that it will adjust the schedule for this weekend’s series against Eastern Kentucky, with the opening game now set for 9 a.m. Central Time on Saturday. The team may play two games on Saturday if weather conditions allow, while Sunday’s noon game remains unchanged.

This scheduling change is important as both teams are currently tied atop the ASUN Gold Division and are coming off strong performances in recent games. Weather has already impacted previous matchups between these teams, making flexibility in scheduling necessary to complete the series.

Central Arkansas enters the weekend with a record of 28-16 overall and 10-4 in conference play after sweeping Bellarmine last weekend. Addie Graham was named ASUN Player of the Week after hitting .600 over ten at-bats during that series, and Emory Bowlin threw her first career no-hitter as part of a dominant showing by the Bears. The team leads several offensive categories in conference play, including batting average (.339), triples (8), walks (81), and stolen bases (31). Trinity Brandon has contributed significantly with a .420 batting average in ASUN games.

Eastern Kentucky holds a record of 23-19 overall and matches Central Arkansas with a 10-4 conference mark. The Colonels have won their last five games, most recently taking both ends of a doubleheader against Morehead State and sweeping North Alabama before that. EKU relies heavily on singles for offense—over 87 percent of their hits fall into this category—and maintains an on-base percentage of .377 despite a team batting average of .276.

In their earlier meeting this season, Central Arkansas won both home games against EKU before weather disrupted the final matchup. Both teams look to continue their winning streaks as they compete for position atop the division standings.

Saturday’s opener will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live statistics available online for all scheduled games.
