The Central Arkansas Bears Women’s Golf team is set to compete in the 2026 ASUN Women’s Golf Championship, which will take place from April 17 to April 19 at Dothan Country Club, according to an announcement on Apr. 16.

This championship holds significance as the Bears aim to improve upon their sixth-place finish at last year’s event and contend for a conference title. The tournament brings together all twelve ASUN teams, each having played around ten events during the season.

Three returning players—Valeria Ramirez, Emma Leroy Fabry, and Gudrun Thorsteinsdottir—will join Alethea Paige Gaccion, Maggie Huett, and Aubrey Marx in representing Central Arkansas this year. Last season at Hampton Cove in Alabama, Ramirez led the team with a tie for eleventh place individually. The Bears also posted the third-best single round of that tournament. Florida Gulf Coast University ultimately won last year’s championship after a playoff against Stetson.

During the current season, Central Arkansas recorded several strong finishes including second place at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational where Gaccion was named individual medalist and later received ASUN Golfer of the Week honors. Ramirez earned weekly recognition after placing third individually at The Judson Invitational as reported by the official website. Other notable results include top-six finishes at multiple invitationals throughout the year.

Head coach Summar Roachell said: “I am excited to get the tournament started here in Dothan, Alabama. This is a tournament we have had circled since August. We have had a great week of preparation and have competed at a high level all year to prepare for this moment. We know this is our last chance to win an ASUN title, and the girls are determined to bring their best.”

The Central Arkansas Bears Women’s Golf aligns with University of Central Arkansas athletics and uses the Bears as its mascot according to the official website. The program participates in NCAA Division I competitions under the ASUN Conference according to its official website, operates as a collegiate athletics program according to its official website, and is based in Conway, Arkansas according to its official website.

Conference rankings entering this year’s championship list Florida Gulf Coast first followed by Stetson and North Florida; Central Arkansas enters ranked fifth among twelve teams.
