U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) has expressed concern over the recent lapse in Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations, which has resulted in a federal government shutdown. In a statement released from Washington, Boozman criticized what he described as partisan tactics contributing to the funding impasse.
“I’m disappointed in the partisan political tactics that led here and share the frustration with the impact a shutdown will have on Arkansans and all Americans who rely on government services. My Democratic colleagues in the Senate voted 13 times for clean continuing resolutions during the last administration but are now demanding $1 trillion in unrelated policies, which is totally unreasonable. As an Appropriations Committee member, I know we need to pass this simple stopgap and continue working to advance bipartisan, year-long funding bills that deliver the certainty and predictability federal departments and agencies need,” Boozman said.
The shutdown affects government operations and services that many citizens depend on. Boozman called for passing a temporary funding measure while lawmakers negotiate longer-term bipartisan solutions.
