Morris Anthony Campbell, 43, of North Little Rock, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentence was announced by Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, and handed down by United States District Judge James M. Moody, Jr. on February 3, 2026.
Campbell had previously served a 46-month federal sentence for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and was on supervised release at the time of his latest offense. He pleaded guilty on October 1, 2025, to being a felon in possession of a firearm. In addition to the prison term, Judge Moody sentenced Campbell to three years of supervised release and revoked his previous supervised release from his 2020 conviction, ordering two years’ imprisonment to run concurrently with the new sentence. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.
The investigation found that on April 3, 2025, law enforcement officers stopped Campbell’s vehicle due to fictitious tags. Officers detected the smell of marijuana and searched both Campbell and his vehicle. They found drug-related items in his possession and discovered an FN Model 509 loaded handgun—reported stolen—in the engine compartment of the car. The firearm contained a magazine with 22 rounds of ammunition. Campbell admitted he knew about both the gun and the marijuana.
Campbell is classified as an armed career criminal due to at least three prior convictions for violent felonies or serious drug offenses. His record includes a federal drug conviction from February 27, 2020; a federal conviction in 2009 for distribution of cocaine base; robbery; multiple convictions related to drug offenses; first- and second-degree terroristic threatening; and third-degree assault on a family or household member.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) led the investigation with help from the North Little Rock Police Department.
