Arkansas women’s tennis to face South Carolina in SEC Tournament opener

The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s tennis team will play against South Carolina in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on April 14. The match is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in Norman, Oklahoma.

The tournament appearance comes after the Razorbacks finished their regular season with a record of 13-13 overall and 3-12 in conference play. The team is currently ranked No. 54 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In doubles, Carolina Gomez Alonso and Anet Koskel hold a ranking of No. 20, while Gomez Alonso is also ranked No. 32 in singles by ITA.

During the regular season, Arkansas defeated South Carolina with a score of 4-1 when they played in Fayetteville.

South Carolina enters the tournament as the No. 11 seed with an overall record of 12-11 and a conference record of 5-10. The Gamecocks are ranked No. 27 by ITA as a team and have two players listed in ITA singles rankings: Kaitlyn Carnicella at No. 33 and Helena Buchwald at No. 37. In doubles, Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald are ranked No. 13, while Kaitlyn Carnicella and Anna Larsson are ranked No.78.

If Arkansas wins its opening match against South Carolina, it will advance to face Florida on Thursday, April 16 at the same venue.
