Arkansas women’s tennis team loses to Florida in SEC Tournament second round

The Arkansas women’s tennis team lost to Florida in the second round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament, according to an April 16 announcement. The Razorbacks, seeded No. 14, fell to the No. 9 seed Gators with a final score of 16-6 and now hold a season record of 14-14.

The match began with doubles play where Jimena Gomez Alonso and Alexandra Panagiotidou were defeated by India Houghton and Lucie Pawlak, 6-0. Arina Babenko and Brooke Schafer also lost their doubles match against Valery Gynina and Brooke Black, who are ranked No. 73 nationally, with a score of 6-1.

In singles competition, Brooke Schafer was defeated by Valery Gynina (No. 51), finishing at 6-1, 7-5. Anet Koskel lost her match against Gabia Paskaukas (No. 65) in two sets: 6-2, then narrowly in a tiebreaker at 7-6 (7-3). Arina Babenko was beaten by Lucie Pawlak (No.103), ending her singles match at scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
