Arkansas State lost to the University of Louisiana Monroe by a score of 3-2 on April 18, with the game ending on a walk-off home run at Lou St. Amant Field.

The matchup saw Arkansas State, now holding a record of 23-15 overall and 8-9 in the Sun Belt Conference, attempt to recover from an early deficit. ULM took a quick lead in the first inning after a one-out walk was followed by a two-run home run. Both teams continued to reach base through walks or hits until the fifth inning.

In the fifth, Arkansas State’s Kaden Amundson was hit by a pitch and Ashton Quiller singled. After advancing on a sacrifice bunt, Amundson scored on a wild pitch, putting Arkansas State on the board. Relief pitcher Ryan Ashford entered late in the fourth inning for Arkansas State and delivered three innings without allowing any hits while recording six strikeouts—a career high for him.

The Red Wolves loaded the bases in the eighth inning but managed only one additional run when Quiller was hit by a pitch with runners aboard. Despite starting off strong with singles in their final at-bat during the ninth inning, Arkansas State could not capitalize before ULM ended it with their second home run of the day—this time as a walk-off.

Holden Hess earned his second win for ULM while Brett Foss took his second loss for Arkansas State. The Red Wolves will continue their series against ULM this week in Monroe, Louisiana, with another game scheduled for Friday night.
