Arkansas defeated Oklahoma, 12-8, in a come-from-behind victory on May 9 at Baum-Walker Stadium. The Razorbacks scored seven runs in the eighth inning to clinch the series against the Sooners.

This result improves Arkansas’s record to 34-17 overall and 15-11 in conference play. The team has now won six out of nine Southeastern Conference weekend series this season and holds a home series record of three wins and two losses.

Oklahoma led by three runs entering the bottom of the eighth, but Arkansas responded with a sequence that included six hits, five singles, one double, a walk, and an error by Oklahoma. Kuhio Aloy, Nolan Souza, and Maika Niu each drove in runs to tie the game before Zack Stewart hit a two-run double to give Arkansas its first lead since early innings. Carter Rutenbar and Damian Ruiz added run-scoring singles later in the frame.

The Razorbacks finished with nine hits—including home runs from Maika Niu and TJ Pompey—and drew eleven walks during the contest. Camden Kozeal and Ryder Helfrick each walked three times. Niu went two-for-five at bat with his second home run in as many games while driving in three runs. Pompey recorded his twelfth home run of the season along with two walks and a stolen base.

On pitching duty for Arkansas was Gabe Gaeckle who started with four-and-two-thirds innings allowing three runs while striking out four batters. Four relief pitchers followed: Parker Coil pitched one-and-one-third innings; Steele Eaves worked one inning; Tate McGuire contributed another inning; Ethan McElvain closed out with one more inning including two strikeouts.

Arkansas will attempt to sweep Oklahoma in Sunday’s final game at Baum-Walker Stadium.
